Art therapy focuses on using a creative process to support a person’s wellbeing.

Art therapy can assist in:

  • Creating self awareness

  • Offer a tool to self soothe

  • Empowering people to make decisions

  • Processing and expressing difficult feelings and/or experiences

  • Creating feelings of mastery and improving self esteem

  • Facilitating a connection to our body, helping to regulate the nervous system

  • And soo much more!

Art therapy focuses on the process rather than the final product, so there is no such thing as being ‘good’ at it!

During my sessions, I offer a range of materials and lots of choice, while also offering guidance and directives if this feels best for the person I am working with. I bring my whole self to sessions and like to collaborate with clients around what sessions look like.

I use visual arts based methods but sessions can include play, music or just talking - there are no rules!

Art therapy is about expression, a way to explore our inner worlds and make sense of our experiences, and sometimes it’s about making art for the sake of making art - which can be an act of resistance in a world that praises productivity. Art therapy is a soft non judgmental place to land!
